Managing your Grain: Business Units
Dec 13, 2024
By Ashley Hoffman, GCC Grain Origination Team
As the end of harvest is on the horizon for many GCC farmers, we encourage all our producers to review their current business units this winter, as well as set up any new fields, sections, or landlords as needed. Using business units is a great way to help you keep track of your grain, settle bushels, and assure that your landlords get their appropriate share of grain at settlement!
Business units are linked to your GCC grain account and allow for identifying information to be printed directly on your scale tickets. We’re more than happy to provide printed lists of currently active business units and help with any adjustments that you may need to modify pre-existing business units.
Grain splits can be set up in conjunction with a business unit, however, we will not make any splits or settle any grain without your verification, so we ask that you give us a call or stop by one of our branch locations to speak with a member of our grain team! We will verify that our ticket totals match your physical scale tickets, are assigned under the correct business units, and that grain is split appropriately should any special circumstances exist. From there, we can streamline the process to print accurate Proof of Yield reports for your personal records and/or insurance documentation.
It’s important to note, with the current software programs at Garden City Co-op, grain and agronomy splits are tracked independently of one another. You will need to ensure that you provide the GCC agronomy team with specific splits that you would like to see applied to any agronomy related products or services.
We appreciate your business and are committed to providing straightforward and accurate services for your operation.
